Imagine what Israel felt like walking around and around and around the mountain. An 11 days journey took 40 years. How discouraged would you be?
This isn’t Gilligan’s Island – it isn’t some glorified storyline to entertain; this was the reality for an entire generation. This wilderness season lasted the rest of their life.

Have you felt like you are in an everlasting wilderness season? Feeling like it will never end and life will not get better.

But I want you to remember that God never left the Israelites. He sent manna from the sky to feed them and eventually, God ended their nomadic season to possess the land promised. God kept them and his plan remained the same – even if it took them a little longer to see it out.

No matter how long your wilderness season has lasted, God hasn’t forgotten you. He has a plan and great things are ahead. Cling to God, listen to his voice and follow his lead. He will start to make rivers in your wasteland!!

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and owls, too, for giving them water in the desert. Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland so my chosen people can be refreshed. I have made Israel for myself, and they will someday honor me before the whole world.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:19-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬ (emphasis added)

““When we were at Mount Sinai, the LORD our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions—the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills, the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River. Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.’””

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭1:6-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You’re covered

Your back is against the wall and you feel like you have no where to turn.  Abandoned, alone, and afraid.  Your situation seems hopeless.

We all have these moments in our life.  Moments where we don’t know if we are going to make it.  But we serve a God who has our backs.  He never will leave us or forsake us.

David, the rightful king, spent the majority of his youth running from Saul, the crowned king.  Hiding in caves and in foreign lands, David always had to watch his back.  But one day, God’s promise was fulfilled and David was given his kingdom.  Through that process, David grew to be the king Judah needed.

Don’t get discouraged and don’t give up.  God knows what He is doing.  Hold onto the promise you have been given.  Let God mold you into who you need to be to fulfill your purpose!!

“I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the LORD was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Be blessed, dear readers!

Don’t Grow Weary

I used to have a desire to be seen in doing good.  I wanted a chance to “be something” and would not always treat people like I should.  I am not saying I was ruthless or even malicious.  I am saying I was prideful and impatient.  I wanted my reward now.  I was also insecure – I wanted to know I was needed by people.  Man, it was a stressful season for me…because I never got what I wanted.  I did good, but grew weary.

It wasn’t until a faithful mentor in my life explained to me that it doesn’t require me to overwork myself to get things done – in essence – I am not that great.  Ouch!  But oh so true!  I grew weary because my focus was not on what it should be.  I was doing good for the soul reason to further myself when I should be doing good because that is what I am supposed to be doing.

I should do everything unto God and not worry about who sees it…He sees it.  This revelation began to birth in me a peace that allowed me to love people like I never have because I no longer looked to them for my worth.  I looked to be a blessing to them.  I learned that, at the end of the day, God has my back and I don’t need to be noticed, seen, or praised by others.  Don’t get me wrong, those things are great, but they are not necessary to fulfil the calling on my life.

Being faithful unto God, leaning on Him, learning that it takes all of us to get the work done has been an epiphany that set me free.  I no longer allow myself to become weary because my source is Him.  Pride can suffocate you like nothing else.

I know you are asking yourself why I decided to share this with you…here is why – because the way our society is set up, we can get lost in the desire of others’ approval and it become our downfall.  We see it in celebrities all the time.  The church and those of faith cannot follow that pattern.  We must remain humble and under the hand of God.  That way, we do not seek something from a fellow person that they cannot give.

I know there are going to be days that I will fail at this and fall back to my old ways, but know that I need to find my way back.  Will you join me on this journey?

Live your life free of expecting things from others.  God will ensure that you are taken care of.  He will make sure you get what you need.  Just keep doing good.

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
